Thai Sweet Chili Sauce

Thai sweet chili sauce

Sweet Thai Chili Sauce is one of the best dipping sauces around. You can serve it with cheese wontons, spring rolls, crab cakes, or crispy shrimp! It would even be delicious mixed with mayo on top of a salmon burger. Yum!

I think you’ll be blown away by how easy it is to make this sauce. I know I say that a lot, but seriously, it’s super simple.

If you don’t have Sambal, you can sub Thai chili peppers or red pepper flakes, but try to get the Sambal. Also, if you don’t want to use fish sauce, you can add a little soy sauce or salt. I personally love fish sauce!

Thai sweet chili sauce is made with vinegar, sugar, garlic, and Sambal Oelek or chilis. Just heat it on the stove and add some cornstarch slurry to thicken it up!

  1. Add everything, except the corn starch slurry, into a small pot and bring to a simmer on medium.
  2. Mix corn starch and water in a small bowl. Whisk the sauce vigorously while pouring the mixture into the sauce to thicken it up. Turn off the heat.
  3. Serve right away or keep in the fridge for a few days.
