Air-Fried Crispy Green Beans

air-fried crispy green beans

Air-Fried Crispy Green Beans is a great appetizer that will have your whole family asking for more vegetables! The wasabi mayo is what makes this dish, so definitely don’t skip it.

Green beans have a smooth surface, so in order to get the breadcrumbs to stick to them, I use a wet batter made with rice flour and corn starch. You can try egg wash, but I had trouble getting the breadcrumbs to stick with only egg wash.

Below you will see the ingredients I used for these air-fried crispy green beans! Give this a try and see if your family will eat more vegetables this way!

Instructions

  1. Toast panko breadcrumbs in a pan over medium heat for about 3 minutes or until it’s slightly golden. Transfer to a shallow bowl or plate.
  2. Prepare your wet batter by mixing everything together in a large bowl. The consistency should be a thin pancake batter. It needs to be just thick enough to coat the green beans but not too thick that it will taste doughy.
  3. Pat your green beans dry and coat with a tiny bit of corn starch to help the batter stay on after cooking.
  4. Set up your dredging station. Dip the green bean into the wet batter one at a time, and then coat with the panko. Use one hand for wet ingredients, and one hand for dry ingredients.
  5. Turn on the air fryer to 400F for 3 minutes. (I don’t have a pre-heat option) Add green beans to the basket/tray and spray with cooking oil. Air fry green beans for about 5-6 minutes or until crispy. Do so in small batches in order to leave enough room for the air to circulate around the green beans. If you overcrowd them, it will be hard to crisp them up.
