Spicy Garlic Shrimp

spicy garlic shrimp

Spicy Garlic Shrimp is made with shell-on tail-on shrimp and smothered in a spicy, garlicky, buttery sauce. You don’t have to cook it with the shell on, but I recommend doing so because it seals in all the flavor. You can even peel it off right before eating, but remember to dip it in the butter sauce! If you plan on eating the tail, be sure to cut off the spiky part of the tail. That’s not fun to eat!

Making spicy garlic shrimp is super simple and can be served with rice and veggies for a quick weeknight meal.

Ingredients

  • Seasoning

Instructions

  1. Pat shrimp really dry and combine with seasonings. This part is optional, but you can add some flour or cornstarch to give the shrimp a little crust.
  2. Heat pan on medium heat, melt butter, add garlic, stir and cook until the smaller pieces are slightly golden. Transfer to a heat-proof bowl immediately, as garlic can burn pretty quickly.
  3. Clean the pan with a paper towel. Add olive oil to the pan, and sear the shrimp in two batches for 1.5 minutes on each side. Transfer shrimp to a bowl.
  4. Pour garlic butter over the shrimp. Give it a toss. Add more salt or cayenne if necessary. Squeeze some lemon juice on top and eat by itself or serve with rice and veggies.
