Banh-mi Burger is my take on the classic Vietnamese baguette sandwich if it were turned into a delicious burger! It’s not authentic, but it sure is tasty! It has notes of lemongrass and the same flavors as my bun thit nuong (pork vermicelli bowl) all sandwiched between two toasted brioche buns.
I first had a banh mi burger in Vegas, and it was incredible. I just had to create my own. I hope you try it! It’ll taste better on the grill, but I made it on the stovetop since it was cold outside.

Ingredients
For burger
Instructions
- In a big bowl, mix together oyster sauce, fish sauce, and sugar. These flavors are strong and will taste just like my lemongrass pork. If you want it to taste beefier, then reduce the oyster sauce, fish sauce, and sugar by half. Add ground beef on top. Add the rest of the patty ingredients. Mix together to incorporate the ingredients and try not to over-mix the beef.
- Roll into 4 big balls and set them aside.
- You can grill these patties, but I cooked them in a pan. Heat on medium heat for a minute, add burger patty, and smash it down. Cook for 60-90 seconds on each side.
- Assemble your burgers and enjoy!
I converted this recipe for 6 people. I also used 1 lb ground pork + 1/2 lb ground beef. The family loved it!
So glad you and the family enjoyed it!!
